Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale
With the Kentucky Derby being this month, my pick is a beer from Lexington Brewing and Distilling Co.: Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale. This beer starts out as their Kentucky Ale, which is a blend of two different beer styles: an Irish Red Ale and an English Pale Ale. It is then aged for 6 weeks in the barrels from some of the finest Kentucky bourbons, within hours of the bourbon being dumped. When this beer is finished, you still get the wonderful taste of an ale, but you also get the vanilla and oak aroma and flavor of the bourbon whiskey.
