Karen Lofgren was born and raised in a restaurant family. Her father - being an executive chef - brought his family to New York. She learned at an early age the fun and diversity of the hospitality industry. Her first jobs were all hotel or restaurant related, whether it had been the front of the house or the back. She later went on to college to pursue physical therapy, when an opportunity arose to open up a restaurant. Her and her family decided to take the chance. This lead to 25 years of what she considers to have been one of her most satisfying careers. There, menu development with wine pairing was just one of the many aspects of her job. Being in the food industry has led her to all kinds of opportunities to travel and experience the culture of others through food and drink. Her passion lies in the slow food movement and its correlation to wine, and what these amazing worlds have to offer.
