August 2011 Wine Pick
I'M Deep Rosé 2010
|
|
When they say deep, they mean DEEP. The color of the 2010 is downright stunning. Winemaker Rob Mondavi Jr. achieves this by running off some of the initial juice during maceration to create a larger ratio of skins to juice (this is the Saignee style of rosé-making). This intensifies the color, tannin, and concentration of the wine. Never one to drink much rosé, this one got my attention. I find it to be pleasantly thirst-quenching with flavors of ripe, juicy berries.

Fine Wine Manager, Luke's Super Liquor Stores of Brewster, MA
Karen began her experience with wine in 1999 working in a retail store on the Cape. She used that
experience to finance her travels across the United States, eventually landing in Oregon, the home to
fine Pinot Noirs and Pinot Gris. After several years out West, Karen returned to the Cape in 2002, and
to her former place of employment. Karen's extensive knowledge of wine, and of the retail business,
made her much sought after. The Luke's Fine Wine team family was overjoyed when she agreed to join
them just last year. While her place of business has changed over the years, her love of wine and drive
to learn more about it has remained constant. Karen is partial to the Old World style of wine,
particularly French, Italian, and Spanish. She believes that everyone should have the opportunity to
enjoy fine wine in every price range.
